Rent Act tenancies from before 1989 are still out there, and they follow a completely different set of rules. These tenancies offer stronger tenant protections, rent control through fair rent assessments, and involve more complex possession procedures. They are also not affected by the new single tenancy type introduced in the Renters’ Rights Bill.
