Today, everyone here at The Lettings Hub is acknowledging International Women’s Day, a day that celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
Women in the Workplace at The Lettings Hub
There’s been a drop in the number of female CEO’s in tech with just 4.41% on the fortune 500 list in 2021, down from 7% in 2016.* Our company is headed by a female CEO and therefore represents a minority in a male-dominated industry. Additionally, the executive team at the office is made up of a 50/50 split between male and female team members, with brilliant women occupying the roles of Director of Strategy, Operations Director and Head of Marketing.
Every person on the team brings with them a wealth of knowledge from their respective backgrounds, and the collective treasury of expertise that has contributed to the success of the business. That expert knowledge continues to see The Lettings Hub thrive as it enjoys a period of further growth – where we’ll no doubt continue to meet more amazing women along the way!
Challenging the Gender Imbalance in Tech
Figures show that there is a significant gender imbalance across tech organisations, with only 19% of the entire tech workforce population being women.** Being a Proptech company, at The Lettings Hub make it a priority to support women in tech, and we have encouraged the journeys of our own female team members who originally joined in other roles and progressed into tech lead roles over time.
Female team members play a key role among our team of tech experts behind The Lettings Hub’s BOX pre-tenancy platform. BOX is an award-winning software that we’re extremely proud of, it is powerfully supplying the lettings industry with a streamlined end-to-end tenant process, and always evolving to keep pace with legislation and the changing landscape of our industry.
With the company continuously reaching new horizons in business, we see ourselves as a shining example of how a balanced workforce can produce fantastic results and use our diverse strengths to provide the lettings industry with powerful and innovative products.
Opening Doors for Women with a Flexible Workforce
An unfortunate challenge the tech industry faces is showcasing more female tech role models to inspire and encourage future generations to choose a career in tech. Research** has also indicated that a lack of supportive language in tech job adverts dissuades women from applying for tech roles. Therefore, it’s evident to us that companies should make efforts to create an inclusive environment where more women can reach their full potential.
The Lettings Hub makes an effort to demonstrate some of the ways that a business can do that, by offering flexible working options in the form of split shifts. We believe that all workplaces should consider less traditional shift patterns where possible, to be accommodating for employees who have families and dependents. Flexible working patterns that offer day shifts as well as early mornings or evenings, part time and hybrid working, can create more opportunities for women to find jobs that cater for a family life, too.
Without the women in our business, The Lettings Hub would be unrecognisable. We recognise that successful companies like ours have a duty of care and responsibility to support the women in their workplace, unlocking potential, retaining phenomenal talent and creating a harmonious balance that benefits all involved. Thank you to the women of The Lettings Hub for all that you’ve achieved!
